Dull moment in DC? With all of the many area local events in Washington DC, the word dull moment doesn’t exist in a city that stays up late too especially on weekends. Politics is not the only thing going on Washington DC. Many DC Local area events include:
- The Legg Mason Tennis Classic – The Legg Mason Tennis Classic is a US Open Series Event with competitions including 48 singles and 16 doubles teams. The World class tennis event benefits a good cause-The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF),a non-profit organization that strives to improve the life of Washington DC area youths through tennis,educational and community based activities. Past winners of this event includes Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Stefan Edberg, Arthur Ashe and Jimmy Connors. - Military Appreciation Day - This is a one of many days when we show appreciation for the members who are in the Military. Gates will open at 9pm. Active duty military personnel will receive complimentary tickets for Sunday’s session. Some of the Military Appreciation Day activities includes a Military Enlistment ceremony, Honor Guard and Color Guard, a flag unfurling and physical fitness competition. It is always great when people in the military who give their lives to protect us and our country are celebrated.
- The Wine Tasting – August 14th 6-8pm – Tickets: $70 – This wine tasting will feature a special tasting of the tournaments signature wine and include sommeliers who will be available to answer questions and provide pairing suggestions. Want to watch a good movie about wine tasting while you enjoy drinking wine? Check out the movie “Sideways”. Watch that movie will make a non drinker want to become a wine taster. - Stars of Tomorrow Junior Challenge - Are you a tennis fan? Looking to see where you might find the next Serena Williams? Venus Williams? Steffi Gras? Andre Agassi or John McEnroe-Lord helps us if one of them becomes another John McEnroe-(Love you John-LOL),then come ,cheer and clap for the next generation of DC tennis professionals during the round robbin tennis event. Children ages 10 and under from several prominent training centers in the DC Metropolitan area will participate in both singles and doubles competitions. Please help support the stars of tomorrow.
